Washington Mutual

Here I sit in 1929.....wait.....I mean 2008 and happen to be a customer of WaMu. I wake up this morning to find WaMu is the number one new story as the largest bank failure in U.S. history. Needless to say, that made my day. But all is not doom and gloom - JPMorgan Chase bought WaMu on the cheap for 1.9 Billion. Since the government seized WaMu and sold it to Chase, Chase did not have to cover investor losses, which amount to millions if not billions. And, they are going to unload around 31 billion in mortgages as well. This purchase will actually go in as a positive for Chase in 2009.

Now I am not an investor in WaMu, just a little bank customer that has his paycheck put in twice a month by direct deposit. WaMu/Chase is stating all is well for us little guys and the banks opened today business as usual. The point is I really did not want to be a Chase customer. Chase has been in my area for several years and I have checked out their services. I decided to stay with WaMu. Chase is not bad but now I have to decide if I want to stay with them or find another place to bank. WaMu had excellent services and maybe Chase will also.

It is sad that WaMu floundered. My wife and I wondered about WaMu over the last few years as it seemed that there was now a WaMu branch on practically every street corner. Within 2 to 3 miles of where I live, I can bank at 4 different branches. Pretty convenient to say the least. And there are 2 Chase branches just as close. Now you know some of those will have to shut down. More people out of work.

My wife and I opened our joint account over 19 years ago when it was Home Savings of America. Then the named changed to Savings of America. 17 years ago Savings of America was bought by WaMu. Our account just kept moving along with the changes. In all those years we have had great service. I do a lot of the banking in person even though I could do it over the internet. I like the interaction with the bank personnel. Another great advantage was when a mistake was made or I made one, I had a personal relationship with the Bank and could get things worked out. Even on errors I made I could get some compassion and have charges reversed.

With the debate on the Great Bailout going on, this is just another part of it to me. It seems like America has gone crazy concerning finances and now we collectively are going to pay a huge price for national greed. I follow the news and commentaries very closely and it is obvious that the bailout is a split issue. Many voice yelling do it, many voices yelling don't do it. I don't know. We obviously have a huge mess going on, my bank being just a part of it. You know something has to give - we already saw that in the home mortgage industry and a couple of large insurance companies go under. WaMu is the second major bank to fall.

No one is saying this in the news, but I think one of the major factors of this crisis is that this country no longer honors God. God has blessed this nation richly and today's culture is doing everything it can to exclude God from all aspects of our lives. And don't forgot the American Holocaust being perpetrated against the unborn. How long will God bless a nation that behaves as our does? Did not Israel receive judgment for their line of corrupt Kings? Something to ponder.

Google Searches

Just an FYI.............at the very bottom of this blog is a Google Search Toolbar. It will always be displayed on the first page you see when you open this blog.

FACEBOOK

Well, I finally did it. I put a foot in the muck and moved a little closer to the dark side. I got a Facebook account. Did not really want to but a former co-worker who is very ill wanted me to look at photo's on their Facebook account. I am still undecided about this though. I see advantages but yet see drawbacks.

I guess I was a little leary because we all know how MySpace became the happy hunting grounds for perverts. The Vahalla for the twisted. Now if you are one of those should not breed stupid persons that puts your phone number and address in the profile or contact area, then I have to say you are asking for trouble. Your family and close friends should already know how to contact you. I also saw a lot of pictures on there from people that are now my "friends". This should be okay as long as the whole world cannot look in. I have to say though that some of the photo's posted by teenage girls will most likely attract the bottom feeders. Hopefully they will use discretion on who shall be their online friend. Of course, hell will freeze over before my daughter gets a Facebook account.

Okay, I will admit there are positive things about it. I have reconnected with a cousin, a couple of social & political allies for the advocacy of Romanian Orphans, a couple of former co-workers, and a friend from church. I see that it is not totally the devil's playground. I would like to find a few other people from the past that are hard to contact. Especially college and Navy buddies. Still bummed over the sinking of the ship.

I do love the digital age. I love to write and still love to write letters and love IM. But I type better than I write so my handwriting quality has diminished. Another factor is my eyesight problems. I can't sign checks without my reading glasses and now I may need even stronger ones. I will give this Facebook stuff a chance. Not totally sold on it but willing to use it.

Back in School

Little Rolling Thunder went back to school on 8/25/08. So far so good. She is doing all her homework either at school or at home after gym. Thankfully I have not had to be part of it yet. She seems to be liking it. She had some big changes over the summer. Her best friend dumped her - now that more light has been put on the situation and the kind of kid the ex-best friend is - this actually is a blessing. I may blog about the perp kid and her whacko family later. She has moved on. She went through the turmoil of changing gyms - her choice - and now starts the competitive season with a new coach and team. Again, it appears that was for the good as well.

All in all - things seem to be good with Little Rolling Thunder at the moment. We got her a 5 month old kitten last Sunday from the Animal Shelter. We have had a few of our cats die recently with another checking out slowly. Goodness gracious, this kid is so protective of her new kitten it is not even funny. She even questions me!!! And I have been involved with the raising of cats for over 40 years. But it is good to see that she is making great strides to be a responsible pet owner.

Christians Unite & Pray

I don't know who wrote it but is sure hits the nail on the head. I know I am not going to bow down to Allah. Are you? I think at times we just do not want to be bothered regardless of what is going on. As long as we are okay, our money is okay, and our little corner of the world is okay, then the heck with the rest of country, and in that matter, the rest of the world.

Christians Unite & Pray

I was very dismayed when, recently, a family member of mine said to me with great resignation that Obama will take the presidency. These words came from someone who in the past has been a great prayer warrior.

What is happening was my question??? Why are we Christians settling and not issuing a battle cry and falling to our knees and taking our country back? We allow ourselves to be stripped of the right to pray at school functions and in school, we have the 10 commandments removed from government places and are told we cannot pray in school, all the while providing public prayer places for Muslims. What in the world is going on and why are we being apathetic? Why aren't we praying? Our God is amighty God who is waiting patiently for us to raise our voices to heaven to stop the tide of the anti-Christ actions in our world today.

Now we find we have a charismatic candidate for president who does not respect our flag and refuses to wear one on his lapel except when it becomes politically expedient and whose own wife and pastor that he loves profess to have strong anti-white feelings, and we sit back and say 'it is a given, we can do nothing.' There has never been a time in 2000 years that we can do nothing, never a time that we must sit back and allow the evil in men's and women's hearts to take over our world. We should be very afraid because our apathy is leading us to perdition.

It is time for all Christian Americans to raise the battle cry and take our nation back. Maybe McCain on his own cannot defeat Obama, but our God can and He will if we take to our knees in prayer and raise a mighty cry to the heavens to 'Save us O Lord.' We have the power to change the course of this election and to keep a man as suspect as Barak Obama from leading our country to who knows where with his message of 'change' - a change which I fear will be away from our Christian ideals and away from Christ and further away from one nation under God to one nation under Allah.

We are great at passing stories and pictures around the Internet, but where are our prayers and prayer warriors praying to stop this tide of Barak Obama? God parted the Red Sea, Jesus raised himself from the dead, and we can bring our country back to its Christian roots and stop the move to the rise of Muslims in our country. We can stop our country from being 'under Allah,' but we must begin to pray, to pray as if our country and our lives depended on it, because they do. We can stop all these atrocities against God's commands that have taken root in our country through something as simple as sincere prayer, a call to God to deliver us, to forgive us our sins of apathy and to protect us from the evil that is upon us.

Okay prayer warriors, here is your challenge, start those prayer chains. Get the spiritual power working on our behalf and stop Barak Obama the proper way, by calling on our God to save us from the deception that charismatic preaching is using to lead us on the wrong path. Stop those who would take God out of our country and our government. Raise up good men to lead us and protect us. George Bush is being buffeted because he has fought a holy war against the evils that attack us and we should not be surprised because a prophet is not honored in his own country. But we should not rest on our laurels and allow ourselves to be taken further off the path of Christianity and to have God removed from our presence in our schools, courts, government and businesses. Invite God into the fray. Ask that His power rest upon us and give us the victory. Ask him to raise up a might army to defend us and to protect our country as he did in days of old. Let us be victorious beginning NOW. The battle is His but we must call on Him without ceasing and unite our voices and hearts in prayer and fasting.

Please pass this around to all people of prayer that you know and maybe, just maybe a more eloquent person of prayer will write something better and more inspiring and even the rocks will shout that Jesus is Lord and our Mighty God is with us, bringing the victory for us and ultimately for Him.
